Tradition and sustainability

Working in partnership with horses and nature.

What we do

Nestled in the beautiful Surrey Hills, here at Daniel Brown Horseman, our family-run business is dedicated to providing carriage driving experiences and using horse powered methods of land management to protect our environment in the most sustainable way possible.

Our services include:

Sustainable logging, bracken rolling, land maintenance, hay making, carriage driving lessons, working horse lessons, private group drives and event wagon rides. Our new “Pub drives” are increasingly popular as we take you on a magical carriage drive up to The Plough Inn, where you will enjoy 10% off. These private events are perfect for corporate gathering, family events or specially occasions.

Whether its an intimate experience for two, or a large group adventure you’re after, we are happy to tailor the experience to you.

Please get in contact with us today if you’re interested in finding out more information about any of our services.

We are fully insured to perform all services.

Why you should choose us

Our team of highly skilled horsemen and horses are extremely experienced and dedicated to managing land in the most respectful and sustainable manner possible. By opting for horse-powered methods, you will reduce your carbon footprint and minimise any potential damage to your land that might occur with heavy, modern machinery.

In architecturally significant areas, horses can navigate around sensitive sites without causing harm to the surrounding environment.

With years of expertise, our team can share valuable insights on how to best care for your land and how our horses can help protect it for the future.

If you would like to learn more about how we can assist you, please feel free to contact us for a no-obligation quote.

Lessons

We offer carriage driving and working horse lessons at our farm in Westcott, Dorking. Both our lesson structures provide 1:1 tuition by Daniel Brown, who is a calm and patient teacher with years of experience.

We are able to take total beginners, from ages 5+ (10+ for working horse lessons), with no previous carriage driving, or horse experience necessary.

Dan is also an instructor for the Stella Hancock RDA Driving Group, and is committed to making the sport as accessible and inclusive as possible. We are able to use adaptive, wheelchair accessible carriages and provide extra assistance when driving to provide experiences for those less able. We strongly believe everyone should be able to enjoy the horses and surrounding landscape equally.

We use our own horses in our lessons, but we can also provide lessons using your own horse to, please get in contact for more information.
