Nestled in the beautiful Surrey Hills, Daniel Brown Horseman offers a unique, family-run business, dedicated to providing carriage driving training and using horse-powered land management methods. Our mission is to protect the environment in the most sustainable way possible.
We offer a variety of services, including sustainable logging, bracken rolling, land maintenance, hay making, carriage driving lessons, working horse lessons, private group drives, and event wagon rides. One of our newest and increasingly popular offerings is the “Pub drives,” where we take you on a magical carriage ride to The Plough Inn. Here, you can enjoy a 10% discount on drinks. These private events are perfect for corporate gatherings, family events, or special occasions.

Lessons
At our farm in Westcott, Dorking, we offer both carriage driving and working horse lessons. With each lesson, you’ll receive one-on-one tuition from Daniel Brown, a calm and patient teacher with years of experience.
We welcome total beginners, starting from age 5 for carriage driving lessons and age 10 for working horse lessons. No previous experience with carriage driving or horses is necessary, making it easy for anyone to start.
Moreover, Dan is an instructor for the Stella Hancock RDA Driving Group and is dedicated to making the sport accessible and inclusive. To achieve this, we use adaptive, wheelchair-accessible carriages and provide extra assistance for those who need it. This ensures that everyone can enjoy a fun and relaxing experience. We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy horses and The Surrey Hills equally.
In our lessons, we typically use our own horses. However, if you prefer, we can also provide lessons using your own horse. Please contact us for more information.
